training as a mechanical
engineer in Vickers, he
studied at Leeds College
of Music and Newark
Technology College. He
gained a Certificate and
a Diploma in Musical
Instrument Technology,
specialising in the
making and repair of
woodwind instruments. Before
starting In Tune he
worked for over 5 years
at Wood, Wind & Reed
in Cambridge making
historical clarinets and
8 years at John Myatt
Woodwind & Brass,
running their woodwind
repair department. He has
also worked freelance
making and repairing. In
Tune Woodwind Sales and
Repair is based in
Ulverston, Cumbria, 3
miles from the Lake
District National Park in
the northwest of England.
